Sports fans win in wireless stadiums

Wireless technology is offering sports fans new and dynamic opportunities to engage with events.

Sports fans win in wireless stadiums

You arrive at the match, and your phone guides you to your seat, lets you pre-order and pay for your food at half time to avoid the queue, and even delivers replays directly into the palm of your hand.

This is the promise of the new in-stadium wireless network now operating at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.

The unique solution, will simplify ticketing, help fans find the quickest way to their seats and make it possible to integrate innovative, real-time interactive features into the event experience.

“Telstra’s communications solution suits all of our requirements now, and provides an exciting road map of opportunities as we go forward,” Daryl Kerry, managing director of ANZ Stadium, said. “The first stage of the rollout will connect sponsor content to Wi-Fi devices throughout the stadium, allowing information, announcements and video content to be displayed to fans.”

We’ve got a wonderful opportunity to actually get to know people and find out who they are and what they like and what they don’t like and be able to help them in their experience.

- Daryl Kerry, Managing Director, ANZ Stadium
