The Emergency Alert system, developed in partnership with Telstra, is used by all states and territories and can pinpoint the location of individuals to tailor messages to their current area.

  • More than 800,000 SMS and 1.5 million voice calls were sent via the system during Cyclone Yasi
  • The use of cloud technology enables authorities to reach people in time critical situations so they can make decisions about their safety.
